Job Summary:
The Driver's Education Instructor Instructs students in the content area of Driver’s Education and Behind the Wheel, in alignment with the mission of Cairo Jr/Sr High School, which is to produce a community of learners by cultivating academic, social, and emotional skills to maximize each student’s potential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Schedule determined based on student enrollment in the program.
• Instruct students behind the wheel for the purpose of developing driving skills and knowledge pertaining to rules of the road.
• Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe learning environment.
• Maintain and prepare all necessary records and reports.
• Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as determined by the principal or designee or as needs arise.

The Physical Education or PE Teacher is responsible for designing and providing instruction in accordance with curriculum planning and timing guidelines. Teachers also conduct frequent and appropriate assessments to determine student understanding. Works well with other instructional staff, support staff and administration with a focus on producing favorable academic outcomes and a positive school climate.
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
Provide appropriate feedback on work.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
Prepare required reports on students and activities.
Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
Prepare classroom for class activities.
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
Participate in appropriate professional activities.
Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
Professional Educator License with an Illinois approved endorsement in Safety & Driver Education (Grades 9-12) valid driver’s license.

• Must have excellent planning and organization skills
• Must have the ability to work collaboratively with others
• Must have strong verbal communication skills
• Must model a desire and willingness to continually learn
