Shawnta was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University, a Master’s in Counseling from Indiana University, and a Master’s in Teaching from Marian University. With a strong foundation in both education and mental health, Shawnta brings a well-rounded perspective to supporting students' academic and personal growth.

Over the years, she has gained extensive experience serving as a general education teacher, special education teacher, and school counselor. This diverse background allows her to connect with students of all abilities and needs, while also supporting families and educators in creating inclusive, supportive learning environments.

Outside of her role as a Telecounselor for Prosperi, Shawnta works as a licensed mental health therapist. While her position as a Telecounselor does not include providing therapy or clinical mental health services, she is deeply committed to promoting Cairo students’ social-emotional development and helping them explore college and career pathways.

When she’s not working, Shawnta enjoys spending time with her husband and their three teenage children. She also loves reading, exploring new skills, and spending time outdoors.
