With the strong possibility of inclement weather moving into our area later this evening, Cairo Unit School District 1 has decided to err on the side of caution and cancel school for Friday, January 10th.

We urge all students and families to stay safe and warm.

Classes will resume in person tomorrow January 7, 2025. School at both campuses will begin at their usual times. We encourage all students to bundle up and stay warm while traveling to school. We look forward to seeing you in person tomorrow.

Good Evening All,

I was notified by the regional superintendent this evening via email that our E-Learning plan has expired. The plan on file with the ROE was adopted on September 21st of 2021. Therefore, it expired in June of 2024.

The board must hold a hearing at our next regular board meeting to adopt a new plan. Therefore, the E-Learning day that was designated for January 6, 2025 will have to be reclassified as one of our emergency school days. Until we adopt a new plan, we can only utilize our emergency days. Students are not required to actively participate in on-line learning during these days.

I’m sorry for the confusion, I was unaware that our plan had lapsed. We will get the new messaging out to students and families as soon as possible on reclassifying the day.
